Frequently Asked Questions

Will my child be able to access the internet through the school computers?

Yes. Access to electronic mail and Internet offers an abundance of resources such as thousands of libraries, databases, and bulletin boards to both students and teachers. Because of this and our district goal to promote excellence in our schools, we are pleased to bring to the students of Kings Ridge access to electronic mail and the Internet. As with all privileges there are certain responsibilities.

When do you give out student report cards?

We issue report cards following each nine-week period. In addition, we send home four-week progress reports each quarter. We hope this will allow students who are having difficulty to improve before report cards come out. Nine-week grades are an indication of progress. Only semester grades become a part of the student's permanent record. Students have the right to question grades, absence records, and other school records. If you think an error has been made, the first level of appeal is "the point of origin.”  For example, if you question a math grade, contact the teacher who recorded the grade. The second level of appeal is the principal.

Does Kings Ridge have a physical education uniform?

No, we do not have a PE uniform. Students wear shorts, shirts, tennis shoes, and socks during physical education classes. Their clothing must be neat, clean, and marked with the owner's name. We require them to be of the school and/or uniform colors.

We believe that physical exercise is important and helps students to think, study, and learn. If a student must be excused for medical reasons, we ask that he/she present a signed note from parents or guardian to the physical education instructor. This note may excuse the student from physical activities for a period of no more than three days. Any excuse for periods longer than three days will require verification by a medical doctor.

What is the school’s discipline policy?

Nearly every student respects the rights of others and is not negatively affected by a discipline plan. We will deal with all forms of misbehavior swiftly with a minimum of disruption of the class or school.
